Thai professional mixed martial artist Loma Lookboonmee was overwhelmed at a UFC occasion on Saturday. The struggle was held in Las Vegas, where Loma faced Mexican opponent Lupita Godinez at UFC Fight Night 198. Loma is the primary and only Thai to compete in the American combined martial arts promotion company Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Thailand has a rich martial arts history. Muay Thai, or Thai kickboxing, is the national sport of Thailand. Despite that reality, the Bangkok Post reports that Loma is the one Thai to make the transfer to the UFC, where she has a report of 3-2. She trains at the famous Phuket martial arts gym Tiger Muay Thai. Before signing with the UFC Loma had a storied Muay Thai profession, in accordance with Wikipedia, the place she competed in every IFMA World Muay Thai Championship between 2015-2019. She medalled in all of those competitions, taking house three Golds, one Silver and one Bronze.
Loma was initially scheduled to face another opponent for UFC Fight Night 198, reviews the Post, however they had to pull out at the last minute and were replaced by Lupita Godinez. Godinez ended Loma’s 2-fight win streak, capturing the victory by unanimous decision. In a post-fight interview, the victor supplied reward to the Thai fighter for her efforts during the contest.
