Svanehøj wins gas pump order for 15 LNG dual-fuel container vessels

Orders for dual-fuel LNG vessels broke all records in 2021 with a total of 240 ships globally. That is greater than the earlier four years mixed. And development appears set to proceed unabated in 2022.
According to knowledge from classification society DNV, orders for 56 dual-fuel LNG vessels have been placed in January and February.This change in demand has created fairly a buzz at Svanehøj. Svanehøj has just secured an order for fuel pump methods for 15 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (7,000 TEU), that are to be constructed at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding. The whole of 30 deepwell fuel pumps might be delivered from August 2022 to January 2024. The order is amongst Svanehøj’s largest referring to LNG fuel thus far. It is the second time within the final 12 months that this buyer has chosen Svanehøj because the supplier of LNG fuel pump systems. In July 2021, they signed a contract for deepwell pumps for 10 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (15,000 TEU).
“Until a number of years ago, the use of LNG as a marine gasoline was restricted to LNG carriers and smaller ships. But we are now seeing a sharp improve in fuel pump orders for deep sea vessels such as container ships and car carriers. We had been chosen because the supplier of gas pump techniques for over 50% of the dual-fuel LNG container vessels ordered globally in 2020-21. And we goal to extend our market share further within the coming years”, says Johnny Houmann, Chief Sales Officer, Svanehøj.
Large investment in lean manufacturing and new tools
